Alla Parsons is originally from Russia where she received her basic art education. In the United States she continued her art studies at the university level and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Georgia Southern University. Her painting style can be described as Magic Realism – art in which some mystery or a secret seems to be hidden within the subject matter.
She spent a fair amount of time working with the figure. She sees study of a figure as necessary for her art as playing scales is necessary for a musician. She was a part of a Figure Drawing artists groups in Hilton Head, SC; Savannah, GA. She created and coordinated a Figure Drawing Co-op at Georgia Southern University and hopes to create one soon in Danville, VA where she moved just recently.
Alla works in oils and mixed media, although in the past she worked exclusively in watercolors. Her experience includes teaching public and private art classes, working and exhibiting in art galleries, her works received awards and are in private collections across the US, Canada, Russia and Germany.
